Nikon D3300 Milky Way Settings






If you are on a crop sensor camera from nikon you divide this by 1.5 and for canon you divide this by 1.6. so if you are shooting with a nikon d3300 for example your max exposure time is: 500/16=32 /1.5=21 seconds if you where shooting with a canon 7d: 500/16=32 /1.6=20 seconds.. Put in your coordinates and it will show you the direction of the milky way at a specific time, on a specific date of the year. using this application, you can know exactly at what time of year, the brightest part of milky way will be above your location to shoot.. The last way to get a great shot of the milky way is to track the sky with an apparatus called an equatorial mount. by tracking the sky at the rate of the earth’s rotation you can lengthen a 20 second capture to perhaps a 60 second one.. To photograph the milky way and the natural bridge, i used my nikon d700 camera (full frame) and a nikon af-s 14-24mm f2.8 g lens on my tripod legs benro a4580t with a kirk enterprise bh-1 head. my nikon d700 with the nikon 14-24mm f/2.8 ..
