PRESS RELEASE: Julian Assange statement
Thursday August 16, 2012
Assange has hailed the "courageous" act of Ecuador and compared it with the reluctance of Britain and Australia to help him.
In a statement made earlier at the embassy this afternoon, he thanked the staff and went on to pay tribute to Bradley Manning.
"I am grateful to the Ecuadorean people, President Rafael Correa and his government. It was not Britain or my home country, Australia, that stood up to protect me from persecution, but a courageous, independent Latin American nation.
While today is a historic victory, our struggles have just begun. The unprecedented US investigation against WikiLeaks must be stopped.
While today much of the focus will be on the decision of the Ecuadorean government, it is just as important that we remember Bradley Manning has been detained without trial for over 800 days.
The task of protecting WikiLeaks, its staff, its supporters and its alleged sources continues. "

Freedom House 2015 Yılı Dünya Özgürlük Raporu
Freedom House 2015 Yılı Dünya Özgürlük Raporu
Freedom House’un 2015 y?l? dünya özgürlük raporuna göre; ara?t?rmada incelenen 195 ülkeden 89’u “özgür rejim” kategorisinde kabul edilmi? (% 46), 55 ülke “k?smen özgür” olarak de?erlendirilmi? (% 28) ve 51 ülke “özgür de?il” (% 26) kategorisine dahil edilmi?tir.[1]
Freedom House 2015 y?l? özgürlük raporu grafi?i
Listede “özgür rejim” kategorisinde say?lan 89 ülke ve 2 tart??mal? bölge (Porto Riko ve Kuzey K?br?s Türk Cumhuriyeti-Kuzey K?br?s) ?unlard?r; Almanya, Amerika Birle?ik Devletleri, Andorra, Antigua ve Barbuda, Arjantin, Avustralya, Avusturya, Bahamalar, Barbados, Belçika, Belize, Benin, Birle?ik Krall?k, Botsvana, Brezilya, Bulgaristan, Cape Verde (Ye?il Burun Adalar?), Çek Cumhuriyeti, Danimarka, Dominik Cumhuriyeti, Dominika, El Salvador, Estonya, Finlandiya, Fransa, Gana, Grenada, Guyana, Güney Afrika, Güney Kore, H?rvatistan, Hindistan, Hollanda, ?rlanda, ?spanya, ?srail, ?sveç, ?sviçre, ?talya, ?zlanda, Jamaika, Japonya, Kanada, Karada?, K?br?s Cumhuriyeti, Kiribati, Kosta Rika, Kuzey K?br?s Türk Cumhuriyeti (Kuzey K?br?s), Lesotho, Letonya, Lihten?tayn, Litvanya, Lüksemburg, Macaristan, Malta, Marshall Adalar?, Mauritius, Mikronezya, Mo?olistan, Monako, Namibya, Nauru, Norveç, Palau, Panama, Peru, Polonya, Portekiz, Porto Riko, Romanya, Saint Kitts ve Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent ve Grenadinler, Samoa, San Marino, São Tomé ve Príncipe, Senegal, S?rbistan, ?ili, Slovakya, Slovenya, Surinam, Tayvan, Tonga, Trinidad ve Tobago, Tunus, Tuvalu, Uruguay, Vanuatu, Yeni Zelanda, Yunanistan.
Sahra, Ekvator Ginesi, Eritre, Kuzey Kore, Orta Afrika Cumhuriyeti, Somali, Sudan, Suriye, Suudi Arabistan, Özbekistan, Tibet, Türkmenistan.

Freedom
Freedom
Rostov on Don airport, just before departure...
The human organism is an amazingly adaptable one. Its in our nature, in our genes, in evolution, in our spirits and hearts. You get used to anything. Anything.
I forgot how diffrent Russia is during my stay here. I got used to it. The most contrastic parts were upon arrivel and now - departure time. You enter the airport, hear the diffrent langueges flow through the air, and they carry warmth and are soothing to your ears, unlike the sharp, crisp, aggresive pronounciation of the Russian languege. But its more than that, much more. Its in the way you break every legal rule here, because you know you would be reaching into your pocket and paying the policeman anyways. Its in the registration procedures you have to go through as a tourist a couple of times a day, for the govermant (I should write Govermant here, just like the english use the capital G for the word God) to know your whereabouts at any given moment. (Its an old Soviet procedure that still exists, and no, I did not register at all when I was here, we just payed off the guy at the airport...)
The human spirit takes a beating here. The individual is not important, transparent. The system and order are the centrum of all.
Im inspired by the Russians dislike of comfort but Im also afraid of the side effects. Or is it the other way around?
My gift to these people is Capoeira - in a nutshell, the art of freedom. They need it so much, they just dont know it yet. Capoeira is such a strong medication it will even conquer the hearts of Russians. It has done so in other places, taking over the way of life, creating a comunity, effecting everyone around it, anyone that is willing to touch..
You wait and see, motherland R. Once your sons will get a taste of freedom, there is no turning back.
I was told that in Russia there is a hierarchy of freedom - starting with the only true freeman here - Putin, the president, and going down to the simple person on the street, that has his limited freedom. Well, it may be true, but you can create a protective bubble around you and live you life as a pseudo freeman. Capoeira is such a bubble.
I now know it is a strange place for us foreigners - beautiful and enigmatic, but at the same time heartless, dark and cold. This was my first time here, but if I had learned anything from the Russians, it is only the begining of a long lasting addiction. Dasvidanya.
